MeetKai is making strides in enhancing metaverse experiences for sports and travel. Based in Los Angeles, MeetKai has partnered with Think450, the innovation arm of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), to launch a metaverse collaboration at CES 2024. Additionally, MeetKai is working with Tripadvisor to get travelers excited about exploring remote destinations, landmarks, and cultures from around the globe, all accessible from your desktop or mobile device.
The collaboration with the NBPA is set to launch this winter, featuring a digital version of “The Brotherhood Deli,” which was a popular in-person fan shop at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. By leveraging MeetKai’s metaverse platform and AI-powered digital twin technology, this recreated store will showcase a variety of player-endorsed brands and exclusive merchandise. Visitors can interact with this immersive retail space using their mobile devices or web browsers, exploring digital versions of merchandise that can be purchased and endorsed by NBPA members.
In October, MeetKai debuted a metaverse store for the Charlotte Hornets NBA team. The NBPA metaverse will allow fans to create lifelike 3D avatars, interact with other fans, browse merchandise, virtually try on apparel, and make purchases that are shipped directly to their homes. Throughout the season, additional features will be introduced, including virtual meet-and-greets with players, an exclusive media lounge with previews of NBPA content, gamified contests to win exclusive merchandise, and opportunities to visit “The Brotherhood Deli” in person.
Weili Dai, executive chairwoman of MeetKai, highlighted the company’s success in creating immersive sports experiences, citing previous projects like the Drone Racing League and the Charlotte Hornets. Partnering with the NBPA is a natural progression, and there’s excitement about expanding this collaboration in the future.
