Augie Studio Aspires to Revolutionize AI Video Creation for Marketers and Businesses, Mirroring Canva's Impact

A new AI video platform called Augie Studio is officially available in the market. Previously known as Aug X, Augie Studio provides a comprehensive tool for businesses of various sizes to efficiently create social video content. After two years of beta testing, the company is introducing new pricing models, including a specific plan for creative advertising and marketing teams.

Jeremy Toeman, co-founder and CEO of Augie Studio, shared insights with VentureBeat, explaining the company’s focus on end-user needs. They realized that nobody wanted an AI version of Adobe Premiere, as that would soon be redundant. Instead, people were looking for something similar to Canva for video creation. The goal was to create a tool that anyone could use regardless of their background in video production.

Augie Studio aims to support brands in increasing their video output, targeting social media marketers, brand managers, and creative advertisers. The platform already boasts “hundreds of thousands of users.”

So, how does Augie Studio work?

Although powered by AI, Augie Studio isn’t competing directly with platforms like OpenAI’s Sora or Kuaishou’s Kling. It helps generate scripts, voiceovers, and images for videos through prompts and includes editing features. Users can fine-tune their content by swapping imagery, editing scripts, selecting different voice talents, and more. The platform is also model-agnostic, allowing creators to use their preferred language models.

Augie Studio includes a dynamic asset library to keep resources organized. Its AI-powered search system quickly scans B-roll footage to locate specific scenes, and some users have unlimited access to Getty Images’ commercially licensed content.

One of the standout features of Augie Studio is its intuitive professional-grade editing interface. This makes it easy for users to apply edits, transitions, captions, music, effects, and format changes with just a click.

The company has made significant updates since its beta phase, including applying computer vision to all aspects of the platform and introducing a “matchy-matchy” engine that syncs spoken words with relevant content. Upcoming features include a collaborative mode, expected later this summer.

Augie Studio has three paid subscription plans. The free version allows for 60-second videos and up to two total minutes of content per month, suitable for basic and personal use. The $40 monthly premium plan includes AI scriptwriting, a voice library, and more, enabling creators to make up to 10 total minutes of video each month. The $249 monthly enterprise plan offers unlimited 10-minute videos, guided onboarding and training, access to a Slack support community, and more customized features.

The platform emphasizes ethical use, partnering with Getty Images and using Creative Commons-cleared content and paid background music. It also collaborates with ElevenLabs for voice work, ensuring all content is legally and ethically sourced.

Unlike other AI platforms, Augie Studio combines video generation with robust editing tools. Toeman believes there is a market niche between user-friendly tools like iMovie and professional ones like Premiere Pro, where Augie Studio aims to fit in perfectly.
