This week, VentureBeat kicked off our AI Impact Tour in San Francisco with an event that featured discussions on the rapid adoption of generative AI in the banking industry and the innovative areas concerning the governance of this technology.
The AI Impact Tour is a series of events across the country, inviting enterprise decision-makers to explore how they are implementing AI in real-world applications. Our focus is on how they can harness the powerful potential of generative AI while being mindful of the associated risks.
During the event, Wells Fargo’s CIO, Chintan Mehta, shared updates on the bank’s progress with its Fargo app, a virtual assistant powered by Google’s large language models (LLMs). Since its launch in March, the app has handled 20 million interactions and could reach 100 million interactions as more features are added. This demonstrates Wells Fargo’s advanced progress with generative AI.
Another highlight was a talk by Silen Naihin, a former founding engineer of AutoGPT, who provided insights into the leading security threats to LLMs. He shared examples of bold prompt injection techniques, including a case where someone tricked a Chevrolet dealer’s LLM assistant into selling a car for $1, and the dangers of giving an LLM agent too much autonomy. Despite being blocked at the Canadian border, Naihin presented virtually, while his co-founder joined in person, adding a lively dynamic to the event.
We launched the tour last year to fill a gap in events aimed at helping enterprise decision-makers deploy AI, especially generative AI. Most companies are still in the proof of concept stage. These invite-only events, limited to 75 participants, are designed to foster conversation and networking. Our next event will be in New York in February.
Each event focuses on specific themes and industries, leading up to our main Transform event on July 10-11, where we will delve deeper into these topics.
Exciting announcements about new partners joining the AI Tour will be coming soon.
We look forward to seeing you in NYC or later on the tour!
Ted Shelton of Bain & Co attended and wrote a great review of the evening, highlighting the differences in perspectives between IT and business leaders on AI governance and the need for alignment.
