Microsoft aims to simplify campaign creation for marketers by integrating technology from generative AI startup Typeface. Today, Microsoft and Typeface announced the embedding of Typeface’s highly-customizable generative AI technology into the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights platform. Founded in San Francisco, Typeface emerged from stealth in February 2023 and secured $100 million in June for its enterprise content creation customization technology. Typeface helps organizations create content that perfectly aligns with their branding and style, expanding the existing partnership between the two companies.
Abhay Parasnis, founder and CEO of Typeface, explained that this integration is about reimagining how marketing journeys, campaigns, and customer insights can transform into compelling stories and content for customers.
Partnerships play a crucial role in Typeface’s market strategy. The company has numerous alliances with major IT market players. In June 2023, Typeface teamed up with Salesforce to develop customized content within the Salesforce marketing cloud. It also partnered with Google Cloud and marketing vendor GrowthLoop to offer a generative AI Marketing Solution service.
In August 2023, Typeface for Microsoft Teams was introduced to assist with content development within Microsoft’s collaboration tool. The partnership extends further as Microsoft is also an investor in Typeface. Additionally, Typeface utilizes Microsoft Azure OpenAI services as part of its technology infrastructure.
Lori Lamkin, CVP of Dynamics 365 Sales and Marketing at Microsoft, stated that Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights provides an ecosystem of third-party services that integrate to deliver comprehensive customer experiences, using services like Typeface’s generative AI.
Typeface employs generative AI to create on-brand images and content that align with the overall customer experience.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, used by marketing professionals, benefits from Microsoft Copilot’s generative AI features. Typeface’s integration aims to offer more capabilities beyond what Microsoft provides alone. Parasnis explained that users can express their marketing goals in plain English, and the AI system will transform those goals into an entire campaign. This campaign can include various content assets like marketing materials and emails, generated in alignment with the organization’s style and brand. Typeface’s technology quickly learns from a customer’s existing brand assets, including product images and marketing materials.
Parasnis highlighted that Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights provides customer profiles and insights information, and with Typeface’s integration, users can act on that data to generate compelling content. This integration allows users to move seamlessly from data insights to content activation within a single application workflow.
